Aller Media & knk: Project contract on implementing knkPublishing signed
First implementation of knkPublishing in Norway
The Norwegian publisher Aller Media AS and the German based software provider knk Business Software (knk) have agreed upon implementing the publishing software knkPublishing.
In a first step, knkPublishing will be implemented in the book production and treasury departments. As the financial accounting of Aller Media is already working with Microsoft Dynamics the new royalty software will be integrated without any interfaces.
Asked about the reasons for choosing knkPublishing Aller Media states: “We chose knkPublishing due to a combination of 5 year TCO assessment and the full integration of the royalty calculation module with our existing accounting system. So far, our experience with knk is that they are highly professional, thorough, and trustworthy and that Aller Media and knk employees work well together.”
Before starting the actual implementation the project team consisting of German knk-consultants, consultants of a local Microsoft partner and future software users of Aller Media will conduct certain pre-analysis workshops. The pre-analysis will provide the project team with important information regarding the actual state of the IT-infrastructure within the publishing house, additional requirements that may influence the software project and the objectives that have to be reached in the near future.
“From our perspective the pre-analysis is an important premise for a successful software project. The project team develops common objectives and expectations of the software project planned. It provides us, as the external software supplier, with important information on the processes within the publishing house and supports us in identifying potential subjects that have to be considered while implementing the new business software”, explains Sven Wischhusen, Chief Operating Officer of knk Business Software.
The pre-analysis is part of the knk project methodology used to ensure the success of publishing software projects, which is one of the reasons why knk’s projects are typically delivered on time and on budget, which is not very common in the industry.
knkPublishing is the only Microsoft certified business software for media companies and publishing houses. It is based on the Microsoft Dynamics ERP software and was especially designed to meet the requirements of modern publishing companies. knkPublishing is used by about 150 publishers worldwide. Egmont (books, comics, e-books) and Condé Nast (consumer publications and new media) are just two examples of knk`s international customers.
